What are Baked doughnuts?

Doughnuts that are baked in the oven instead of fried in oil.  They are more cake-like but still have a doughnut essence!

Ingredients 

  • 75g Butter – Unsalted and softened 
  • 65g Sugar and Crumbs Natural Flavoured Icing Sugar ( Flavour of your choice )
  • 50g Caster Sugar 
  • 1 Egg 
  • 120 ml Milk 
  • 2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 190g Plain Flour 

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 140c  160c Conventional Oven Gas Mark 2.  Grease a doughnut tray with oil like vegetable/sunflower or canola oil.
  2. Whisk the sugars and butter together until combined then add the egg and milk and combine.
  3. Fold in the flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Divide between the doughnut trays and bake in the oven for 10mins until golden.
  5. Leave to cool for 5 mins before transferring to a wire cooling tray.
  6. Decorate with icing and sprinkles or see our Custard, Chocolate Dipping Sauce and Caramel Sauce recipes for alternative decorating.
  7. Best eaten on the day of making but will last another day if placed in an airtight container.
